The Colombian Government presented the portfolio for the climate transition, which has initiatives to promote sustainable tourism and productive systems, among others, and seeks investments for 40 million dollars.
This was confirmed by the Minister of the Environment, Susana Muhamad, upon her return to Colombia after presenting it in New York as an investment commitment by the international private sector and where she developed what was announced at the COP28 in Dubai last year.

“Colombia is leading the discussion on how to make a truly fair climate and energy transition. We are on the way to consolidating a donor table that will allow us to achieve an important financial package for the country“Muhamad said.
Nature Tourism, sustainable production systems, fair energy transition, reindustrialization, conservation and restoration of ecosystems, and adaptation to climate change are the projects that are sought to be promoted and that are expected to attract an investment of 40 million dollars.

To this end, the minister highlighted that this Colombian initiative has been “recognized as one of the most advanced in the world in terms of climate and economic transition“and delegations from other countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany and the EU have participated in the presentation of the portfolio. It has also had the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
“This portfolio not only focuses on the decarbonization of the economy, with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by 2030, but also addresses the conservation and restoration of the country’s strategic ecosystems, such as the Amazon and the moors“said the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development in a statement.

Thus, it seeks to promote sustainable tourism with 4,000 million pesos (about 962,000 dollars today); seek the transition to sustainable agricultural systems with 3.5 billion pesos (about $842,000); the expansion of renewable energies and low-carbon reindustrialization for 14.5 billion pesos (about 3.5 million dollars).

It also includes the containment of deforestation and ecological restoration for 8.5 billion pesos (about 2 million dollars); strengthening in the face of climate change for 4,000 million pesos (close to a million dollars) and the creation of financial mechanisms for a just transition for 1,000 million pesos (about $240,000).
