President of the TSE calls on voters to go to the polls

The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), minister Cármen Lúcia, called on voters this Thursday (3) to go to the polls next Sunday (6), the day of the first round of municipal elections.President of the TSE calls on voters to go to the polls

During the last session of the TSE before the first round, held this morning, the minister said that the Electoral Court employees worked to welcome voters on voting day.

“The dedicated employees of the Brazilian Electoral Court, more than 20 thousand employees, worked diligently, with all their efforts to ensure that all Brazilians reached the booth [de votação] with tranquility and peace, but, most importantly, with the freedom to choose what he wants. What voters put in the ballot boxes will be counted, and the results will be announced,” he said.

The minister also said that she hopes that voters do not “deposit their unpleasantness in life” when voting.

“This is a moment of democratic tranquility, responsible civics and joy. We don’t expect people to share their unpleasantness in life, or ideological differences, which enrich us”, he said.

The president also said she expected tranquility during the election. “We do not expect there to be practices of offenses, violence, or unacceptance of differences, because it is through these differences that we achieve plurality, which is everyone’s constitutional right”, he added.

The first round of elections will be on Sunday (6). The second round of the dispute can be held on October 27th in 103 municipalities with more than 200 thousand votersin which none of the candidates for mayor reaches more than half of the valid votes, excluding blank and null votes, in the first round.
