The FCU-UCV stressed that to have a Venezuela of opportunities and development, respect for the Constitution and the laws is needed.
The Federation of University Centers of the Central University of Venezuela (FCU-UCV) expressed its concern about the increase in repression in the country by security agencies against citizens, with actions such as arbitrary arrests, violations of due process and of the right to defense; forced disappearances, persecution and intimidation.
In a releasethe FCU-UCV indicated that seven members of the community of that university remain “unjustly detained” in various detention centers where “their human rights and constitutional guarantees are systematically violated by the Venezuelan State.”
For this reason, he emphasizes that the country cannot move towards normality if there are still “thousands of detainees” arbitrarily and the will of the majority of Venezuelans is also ignored, referring to the July 28 elections and supporting the position of the Command with Venezuela that the winner of the elections was the opposition presidential candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia.
