Saint Dominic.– Hugo Beras, former director of the National Transit Institute and Land Transport (Intrant), was arrested on Wednesday night after a raid on his residence, which lasted more than two hours.
Subsequently, he was transferred to the Attorney General’s Office, after representatives of the Public Ministry completed the inspection of his home, located in the Juan Antonio XVI tower, in the Piantini sector of the National District.
Beras’ transfer was carried out discreetly through the parking basement, which prevented the media from capturing images of the moment.

Earlier yesterday, members of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office against Administrative Corruption (Pepca) left José (Jochi) Gómez Canaán, executive of the Transcore Latam company, under arrest last night after being interrogated about the traffic light contracts in Greater Santo Domingo.
For more than three hours he was interrogated by the head of Pepca, Wilson Camacho, and the Director of Prosecution of the Public Ministry, Yeni Berencice Reynoso, about the complaint filed by the General Directorate of Public Contracts for alleged serious irregularities committed in the execution of the tender procedure for the modernization of traffic lights.
Among the alleged irregularities are the falsification of documents and suspicious movements of shareholders, among other facts.
It is recalled that in August there was a blackout of the smart traffic lights installed by the company Transcore Latamwhich caused vehicular chaos on avenues in Greater Santo Domingo.
The businessman went yesterday at 3:52 in the afternoon to the Attorney General’s Office in the company of one of his lawyers, Hiroíto Reyes, after being summoned for 4:00 in the afternoon.
