The rains recorded in the Porto Alegre region in recent weeks caused the water level of the Guaíba to rise again. The high was 51 centimeters in approximately two days.
This Wednesday (2), at 9:30 am, the 2.72 meter mark was reached at the Usina do Gasologista station. On Monday (30), at 8:15 am, the level was at 2.21 meters. The data are from the National Water and Basic Sanitation Agency (ANA).
The flood alert level is 3.15 meters, and the city’s flood level is 3.60 meters. The peak of the flood that occurred in May 2024 was 5.35 meters.
The increase, however, is not expected to continue in the coming days.
The state’s Civil Defense predicts firm weather in all regions of the state this Thursday (3), which should prevent the Guaíba level from rising again.
