CDMX Congress approves creating new secretariats and water and real estate reform

One of the reforms approved four new agencies of the capital’s Government, requested by Brugada for its administration: the Secretariat of Citizen Attention and Participation, the Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management, the Secretariat of Housing and the Secretariat of Planning, Territorial Ordering and Coordination are created. At the same time, article 16 of the capital’s Constitution was reformed to strengthen water matters, with which the Mexico City Water System (Sacmex) now becomes part of the new Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management.

The legislators approved that now the apartments built by the city government as part of the redensification to generate resources for the reconstruction of buildings damaged by the 2017 earthquake can not only be sold, but can also be rented, according to the Approved change to Article 26 of the Law for the Comprehensive Reconstruction of Mexico City.

“The redensification mechanism will allow us to maximize land use and at the same time offer more housing options not only for sale, but also for rent,” said local deputy César Emilio Guijosa Hernández, from Morena.
