Foreign Minister Yván Gil questioned the recent statements of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, José Manuel Albares, who described as “insults and slander” the statements of President Nicolás Maduro against the president of the Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
The controversy arises from what was stated by the Venezuelan head of state, on September 29, after the leader of the PP (Feijoó), appeared publicly in Madrid, providing support to the former Venezuelan presidential candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, in a rally. .
In this regard, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil spoke through his account on Telegramconsidering that the attitude assumed by the Spanish Foreign Minister, in terms of supporting the PP representative, is due to the fact that he has been “blackmailed by far-right extremists.”
“We do not know if Mr. Albares acts out of fear of a power beyond his government, or out of his own conviction. Now he seems proud to be on the right of the Popular Party,” Gil said in his account.
“Blackmailed by far-right extremists, he has made Spain the preferred refuge for drug traffickers, murderers and terrorists who have done a lot of damage in Venezuela. Enough of so many offenses!” expressed the Venezuelan foreign minister.
Finally, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister warned that “More than 200 years ago we expelled the Spanish empire from our lands, we conquered our independence with blood and fire, rest assured we will know how to make it respected today and always.”
