Lula lands in Brasilia after plane problem in Mexico

After a delay due to problems with the aircraft, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva disembarked, this Wednesday (2), in Brasília from his trip to Mexico, where he participated in the inauguration of the country’s new president, Claudia Sheinbaum. “The flight was peaceful and without any complications”, informed the Presidency.

Lula went straight to his official residence, at Palácio da Alvorada, and has no official commitments scheduled for today.

Problems

Boarding at Felipe Ángeles International Airport, in Mexico City, took place at 2:10 pm (local time; 5:10 pm Brasília time). After takeoff, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) VC-1 aircraft she had a technical problem and was forced to return to the Mexican airport. Without detailing the incident, the FAB said only that safety procedures were adopted and the pilots would wait for the necessary fuel consumption for the plane to return to the airport in the Mexican capital.

After five hours in the airLula and his entourage landed safely at 10:16 pm in the Mexican capital. In the early hours of this Wednesday, everyone boarded another FAB aircraft heading to Brasília.

The FAB has not yet disclosed the cause of the technical problem with the presidential aircraft, an Airbus A329CJ.

In Mexico, in addition to Sheinbaum’s inauguration ceremony, Lula had a bilateral meeting with the new president and participated in a forum with Brazilian and Mexican businesspeople.
