During Sheinbaum’s first speech as president of Mexico, she reiterated that the Judicial Reform will serve to end corruption in the Judicial Branch, which is why she reiterated that the reform that allows judges and magistrates to be elected by citizen vote is the best.
In addition, he sent a message to workers protesting against said reform: he asserted that their rights and salaries are assured.
“How authoritarian is a decision that is essentially democratic and allows the people to decide. We are convinced that this reform is the best. I take this opportunity to tell the workers of the Judiciary that their rights and salaries are fully safeguarded,” he added. .
In recent weeks, Judicial Reform has been a topic of tension between the government of Mexico, the Congress of the Union and the Court. The protests by workers who oppose this reform and that began in October 2023 have continued consecutively, even on this day of the change of government.
