A witness denounced the complicity of an automobile company with the dictatorship

Sergio Maly gave his testimony in the trial of that humanity.

A witness reported this Tuesday the kidnapping and torture suffered by his father in the former clandestine center of Pozo de Quilmes during the last military dictatorship and denounced the complicity of the automobile company peugeot with the last civic-military dictatorship.

This is Sergio Maly, son of Alberto Felipe Maly, a Peugeot company worker who in September 1977 was kidnapped from his home in La Plata and detained in the Quilmes Wellthe Valentín Alsina police station and then placed at the disposal of the National Executive Power (PEN).

Maly was confined in prison unit number 9 in La Plata, where he was released in October 1979 to go into exile together with his family.

“The company was an accomplice in the disaster they made. My father worked in the Peugeot stamping sector, in electrical maintenance. He spent 11 years in that place,” Maly told the Federal Oral Court 1 of La Plata, which judges 17 repressors, among them Miguel Etchecolatzfor the crimes committed against nearly 500 captive victims in the former clandestine centers of Pozo de Banfield, Pozo de Quilmes and El Infierno de Lanús.

In his statement, Sergio recalled that on one occasion, Peugeot workers went on strike and “the military took over the factory.”

“The company was complicit in the mess they made.”Serge Maly

“The women and the workers lay down on the ground to prevent the advance of the military tanks,” explained the man, who pointed out that on that occasion his father and 11 other workers were designated by their colleagues to speak with the uniformed men and managed to get them to removed from the company premises.

The workers did not call the military to repress a strike, it was the bosses. All those who were in that commission (elected by the workers) were taken and several are still missing“, remarked the declarant.

kidnapping and disappearance

On September 15, 1977, a task force broke into the house where he lived. alberto maly and his family, in the capital of Buenos Aires.

The repressors remained at the home awaiting the arrival of the worker, who was kidnapped at dawn the next day.

“The task group he pointed his guns at my brother who was seven years old at the time and still has psychological consequences from everything he experienced,” said Sergio Maly, who was doing military service that day.

Sergio was not in the house but weeks later he was also arrested and taken to Campo de Mayo and to a place of detention located in the town of Los Polvorines.

After recounting the family’s search for Alberto Maly’s whereabouts, the witness explained that, finally, after a year in captivity, his father was released.

“The best revenge, if you will, is that they failed to destroy us as a family, we kept the ties, the love, the family.”Serge Maly

“He told us that he was in the Pozo de Quilmes, that he was tortured. He was skinny shattered. they fed him trash and he said that sometimes they took them out of the cells, they made them line up and those they named made them take a step forward and took them away, “he said.

Sergio assured the magistrates that his father knew that those who were appointed and made to leave the line in that former clandestine center “were taken to a small plane and thrown into the river.”

“One day my grandfather came with a Clarín newspaper that published a list of people made available to the PEN and in which my father appeared, who was with us at home. And the day after that, the task force came back to look for him , that he had to go to the Valentín Alsina police station, they told him it was to sign some papers. My mother accompanied him. And from there they took him to unit 9. There he spent another year. It came out in October 1979 and we went into exile“, he recounted.

Maly assured at the end of his statement at this hearing that “I did not come to testify out of hatred or revenge, but out of justice.”

“The best revenge, if you will, is that they did not manage to destroy us as a family, we kept the ties, the love, the family,” he emphasized.

During this hearing, Roberto Tedoldi, co-worker and militancy of Alfredo Piñero, whose case is being dealt with in this trial, also testified.

Both worked at the Siam factory and were Peronist militants, and Tedoldi recounted Piñero’s struggle in favor of the workers and remarked that “he was fighting for a better world.”

TOF 1, made up of Walter Venditti, Esteban Rodríguez Eggers and Ricardo Basilico, judges the former Minister of the Buenos Aires Government during the dictatorship, Jaime Smart, for the crimes committed in the Pozo de Bánfield and the Pozo de Quilmes; the former Director of Investigations of the Buenos Aires Police, Miguel Etchecolatz; former police doctor Jorge Antonio Berges and the accused Federico Minicucci; Carlos Maria Romero Pavón, Roberto Balmaceda and Jorge Di Pasquale.
