The Disciplinary Commission was convened for Thursday, without the members having information on which Amarante Baret was accused, who was summoned for Friday and on Saturday he was already expelled in a “dishonorable” manner. In the resolution of his expulsion there is no mention of the facts that are attributed to him to classify him as “high betrayal of the party” and it is only alleged that he was summoned for Friday and that he did not attend, although between the summons and the decision there was a mediation. about 24 hours.

Amarante Baret was a presidential candidate for the 2020 elections, an election that ultimately fell to Gonzalo Castillo.
For months he had been one of the few leaders of that organization who had publicly confronted Danilo Medina for the organization’s electoral debacle.
By July of this same year, he spoke out against the possible continuity of Danilo Medina in the presidency of the purple party.
At a press conference, the then senior leader of the PLD presented numbers that, in his interpretation, should lead the organization to dispense with the services of the former president of La República.

Between his arguments and quoting his words at the time, the PLD had taken a 180 degree turn and had seen 2.4 million votes disappear in just eight years.
