With a record of 82 goals in 31 games, the Cuban Pedro Valdés monopolizes prominence in Portuguese handball today as a fundamental piece in the FC Porto team.
In his seventh season on Portuguese soil, the 27-year-old from the Caribbean has 52 goals in the Andebol 1 league, eight in the Cup, five in the Super Cup and 17 in the Champions League, to reaffirm himself among the foreigners with the greatest offensive contribution.
After passing through Artística Avanca (2015-2017) and Sporting (2017-2021), the Cuban directed his game this season to Porto, sub-leader of the domestic competition thanks to 16 wins and a failure, behind Sporting (17 -1) with one less game played.
Valdés shows in the current championship, 52 goals in 16 games with a better performance last weekend when he scored seven times in Porto’s 47-26 success over CD XICO Andebol.
In the Champions League, the Cuban international accumulates 17 goals in 11 challenges and raised his perforations to 104 in the continental competition, adding the three previous appearances with Sporting.
Since his debut in Portugal in 2015, the Antillean left-back shows a total of 1,023 goals in 278 games and his personal record for goals is 236 in the 2016-2017 campaign when he led Artística Avanca.
Two other national handball players under the protection of the Cuban Federation made their debut at Sporting with a mention for Hanser Rodríguez, author of nine goals in three games at Andebol 1.
