Hugo Dellien defeated Gonzalo Lama 6-3 and 6-4, in one hour and 18 minutes of play, to settle in the second round of the Chilean Open, this Tuesday in Santiago. In this way, the Bolivian premiered his return to the top 100 of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP).
is the second time that the ‘Tiger’ is among the 100 best tennis players in the world, since in January 2020 he came to position himself at step number 72, his best position in his entire sports career, but in September of that same year he left the top 100.
The man from Beni, who since Monday has been ranked number 98 in the world ranking, won the first set 6-3, in 31 minutes, after breaking his opponent’s serve on one occasion.
In the second set, Dellien broke his opponent’s serve once again and that ended up being key for win 6-4, in 47 minutes of playand therefore win the first round match of this ATP 250 tournament.
Lama, who played the qualifying phase to enter the main draw of the Chilean Open, is pigeonholed in position number 263 of the ranking of the ATP and offered a lukewarm resistance to our compatriot, who finally celebrated the victory.
Dellien’s next rival will be Argentine Facundo Bagnisnumber 74 in the ranking, who on Monday beat Spaniard Bernabé Zapata 6-3, 6-0.
