Screams and lamentations fill the atmosphere in Sabana Grande de Boyá after the death of Alexander Silva, a 17-year-old young man. According to reports, the young man lost his life at the hands of a Police lieutenant in the Monte Plata province, an event that has left friends and family in pain.

For his part, the mayor of the town, Marcos Tavárez, reported that he spoke with the police chief, whom he asked that the person responsible for the incident be brought to justice and reiterated that he will accompany the family in these difficult times.

According to Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police, Alexander was wounded by a gunshot during an operation in which agents were pursuing Luis Alberto Vallejo, 20, an alleged criminal who had an arrest warrant for having carried out a robbery in Punta Cana, La Altagracia province.
Second Lieutenant Rosario Bernardo Joseph, who commanded the patrol, is allegedly the perpetrator of the shot and is at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
“From the institution we deeply regret this case, where a citizen lost his life in the middle of an action carried out by an agent who was part of a patrol, which was following up on an alleged criminal (not the victim) with an arrest warrant,” said the institution.
