The Minister of Government, Eduardo Del Castillo, reported that during an operation carried out in the municipality of El Torno, five men were arrested. They were found in the midst of recruiting people, to be used as ‘swallowers’. He also detailed other police interventions in recent days.
The authority explained that these men were also found in possession of capsules with controlled substances. “The objective was to find ‘guzzlers’ to take the tablets to Brazil”he highlighted.
It was about 170 capsules which were seized, in addition to three motorcycles and two cell phones. The ages of those arrested range between 20 and 25 years of age.
This is one of the seven operations that Del Castillo described in a press conference held this Saturday in the capital of Santa Cruz.
Other cases referred to by the minister point to road controls, where they found 30 packages of cocaine base paste and 43 of marijuana, on different routes. However, in both controls it was possible to apprehend those transporting the illicit substances.
In another case, Del Castillo described that in a house near the Viru Viru airport, an entire suitcase factory with a double bottom was discovered.
According to the national authority, in the intervention at this address a person was arrested who already had a criminal record for trafficking in controlled substances. “Likewise, 69 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were seized,” he asserted.
Among these and other cases, according to the minister’s version, 18 people were arrested, seven vehicles were seized192 firearms, three cell phones, 126 kilos of cocaine base paste, 313 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride and 72 kilos of marijuana. Affecting drug trafficking by an average of 2 million dollars.
