In a rare event, residents of the El Chaparral sector of Villa Mellain Santo Domingo Norte, demonstrated this Saturday morning during the inauguration of the El Cercadillo Basic School, demanding the asphalt of their streets.
To receive the president Luis Abinader, The community members used a sign with which they expressed their dissatisfaction with the state of the streets.
“We deserve a school with streets. Without asphalt in the sector, no to the inauguration”,said the printed banner, which was tied to two trees.
Prior to the inauguration, rain was recorded, which generated puddles on the unpaved roads. The schoolmodern and new, contrasts markedly with the state of most of the town’s streets, full of potholes and unpaved, and with the wooden houses found in the area.

The president inaugurated the center nearby at noon this Saturday. The new facilities will allow the registration of more than 800 children of the community.

The Minister of Education, Angel Hernandezstated that it is necessary for society to become more involved in the education system.
He gave as an example Singapore’s educational model, known for its focus on academic excellence, especially in mathematics and science, with a meritocratic system that encourages comprehensive development, including technical skills and values. In addition, it prioritizes teaching quality and constant adaptation to global demands.
Hernández concluded by saying: “Education must be the main passion of Dominican society.”
While, Raimundo Rosendo, director of the educational center, stated that with the inauguration of the school “a dream that the community has had for many years comes true.”

Esqueini Pacheco Salazar, fourth grade student, addressed the audience on behalf of all students.
“The students thank you for the construction of this majestic schoolwhich will allow the children and girls have a decent place to study,” he said.

The president Luis Abinader inaugurated the Prof. Mercedes Jerez Beltrán Basic School in the Municipal District of La Victoria, Santo Domingo Norte.
The director of the center thanked the president on behalf of the students and the community for the reform and opening of the school.
The Minister of Education, Angel Hernandez highlighted the importance of everyone’s collaboration: “If everyone gets involved, the school will improve for the benefit of all. It is a collective responsibility, especially of the parents present here.”
After the event, the president posed with the authorities for an official photo, marking the third school inaugurated this Sunday.
