Faith, activism and synchronicity are the themes explored in a free exhibition at the former Nossa Senhora das Graças Irmãs Salesianas Novitiate, a historical, cultural and centuries-old heritage site in the Ipiranga neighborhood, in the capital of São Paulo.
Nominated To Talk About Lovethe exhibition presents works by around 60 artists and is curated by Saulo di Tarso and carried out on the cultural production platform Kura by Kauê Fuoco, who is dedicated to the healing and reframing of people, spaces and stories.
“When the project began, I realized this freedom of being able to talk about aspects that really matter to art, such as the sacred, philosophical and poetic power, and the dynamics of life and free interaction, where artists and people can manifest what they feel without needing to be inside a box. For me, the most important thing today is to highlight the freedom of artists”, said Saulo di Tarso, in a presentation about the exhibition.
One of the works to be exhibited is the unprecedented Sincronicidade, which presents a collection of narratives by the artist and curator, covering 20 years of personal and artistic experiences. “In addition, I bring to the exhibition two young Italian artists who experienced the heart of the pandemic and carried out interventions, reflecting on the gaps left by that reality. This action is fully in line with Kura’s proposal”, detailed the curator, in reference to the Niente da fare axis, by Matteo Zoccolo, which reflects the post-pandemic social desolation in the city of Biella. The exhibition also highlights the painting of the Italian Leonardo Maurizio, who explores post-vandalism art.
Among the highlights is also the work of artist Francisco Silva Aka Nunca, known for combining historical engraving with graffiti on the streets of São Paulo. Recognized for having murals displayed on Avenida 23 de Maio and for his work on decolonization and ancestry, he is one of the most influential artists of his generation.
In addition to paintings, the exhibition also presents poetry, engravings, literature and performances. The public will also have the opportunity to enjoy three series of woodcuts by Albrecht Dürer, totaling 48 works, and to participate in a meditation activity in a labyrinth, offered by the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS).
The exhibition is free and will take place on the 28th and 29th of September (Saturday and Sunday), from 2pm to 7pm; October 3rd and 4th (Thursday and Friday), from 4pm to 7pm; and October 5th and 6th (Saturday and Sunday), from 2pm to 7pm.
