The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) intercepted, near the city of Humaitá, in Amazonas, a Cessna 210 aircraft, without registration, which clandestinely invaded Brazilian airspace, close to the border with Peru.
Under the coordination of the Aerospace Operations Command (Comae), A-29 Super Tucano fighters were immediately activated upon identifying the suspicious movement by the radar of the Brazilian Air Defense System (Sisdabra), intercepting the aircraft at 4pm on Thursday (26) . Shortly before the warning that the aircraft would be shot down, the suspects made a forced landing near Humaitá and, on the ground, to cover their tracks, they set fire to the plane and fled, without being located.
In a statement, the chief of the Joint Staff of the Aerospace Operations Command, Major Air Brigadier João Campos Ferreira Filho, highlighted the effectiveness of the mission, stating that the readiness of the Brazilian Air Force is permanent and that its ability to receive and interpret data is increasing.
The actions are part of Operation Ostium, part of the Integrated Border Protection Program, with the objective of stifling criminal activities at the border, in cooperation with the FAB and public security agencies.
