#FreeZone | AMLO’s last morning

#ZonaLibre | The reform that opens our eyes

Where to see it? Of course, everywhere: internet, television, radio… Even the most gossipy neighbor will be broadcasting live from her window! And it is no wonder, after all, we say goodbye to the most exciting conference saga since the Saturday cartoon schedule of the 90s.

In this last broadcast, we expect the appearance of already known characters: the press that pays tribute to him, the president who explains calmly (and pause… and pause…), and perhaps one or two phrases that will leave us thinking: “Is AMLO done?” to say that?” If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you clearly haven’t been keeping up with this political sitcom, for almost six years.

The mornings leave us extremely interesting data. With a unique and original style, we honestly never imagined that the president would be so constant.

A record of early risers. AMLO has given more than 1,000 morning conferences, something no other president in Mexico has done. If we put them all together, we would have more morning hours than any soap opera series. None beats him.

Longer than a row of tortillas. These conferences have lasted on average 2 hours each morning (or more!), causing several cups of coffee to be finished before the broadcast ends.

Guaranteed viral moments. The mornings have given rise to memes, debates and famous phrases such as “Ya chole”, “Fuchi caca”, and a whole repertoire of expressions that AMLO has popularized as if they were the greatest hits of a stand-up comedian.

The most loyal audience. They have come to be seen by millions of people every day, including those who may only log in to see who asks the president what, as if it were a suspense scene with the reporters as the protagonists.

You already know, prepare the popcorn, get the memes ready, and don’t miss this historic event! It will be a closing that we will remember for a long time… or at least until the next president invents her own morning show.

Claudia Sheinbaum’s morning lectures, a new style of morning conferences?

If AMLO’s morning sessions were characterized by his direct, informal and sometimes controversial tone, with Claudia Sheinbaum we could expect a different, more technical and data-focused approach. As a scientist and academic, your morning lectures are likely to stand out for being more structured and detailed in their explanations.

This is how mornings with Claudia Sheinbaum could be:

1. Data and science early. Every morning could start with timely information on important topics, from climate change to social development, always with an approach based on evidence and scientific data.

2. More elaborate presentations. While AMLO used simple graphs to communicate his ideas, with Sheinbaum you could expect more detailed presentations, with graphs, tables and technical analyzes to support his announcements and political decisions.

3. Didactic approach. Sheinbaum could use a more didactic style, explaining complex topics in a clear and accessible way, with the goal of educating and informing the audience about public policies, environmental projects, and urban issues.

4. Detailed answers. Sheinbaum’s responses to the press are likely to be longer and more detailed, explaining in depth the rationale behind each decision, accompanied by references to scientific studies and background.
