New York.- President Luis Abinader held an important meeting with executives of the World Economic Forum (WEF), as part of his agenda within the framework of his visit to the United Nations.
At this meeting, the Dominican Republic was chosen to implement the National Action Platform for the management of plastic waste with a non-refundable contribution of US$400,000 (400 thousand dollars).

This action will allow the creation of a clear roadmap to prevent plastic waste from reaching the seas and promote sustainable production and the circular economy.
Speaking a few words, President Abinader thanked the World Economic Forum for having chosen the country.
The president specified that the important thing is to carry out an action plan and follow up on those planned so that they are truly executed and seek solutions to the plastic problem.
Meanwhile, the director for Latin America of WEF, Marisol Argueta, He indicated that multiple spaces will work through the National Action Platform, while expressing his joy that the issue of plastic can be worked on in a public-private manner.
The head of state was received by the general director of the WEF, Gim Huay Neo, and the director for Latin America of this entity, Marisol Argueta.
Also present were the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ito Bisonó and the businessman Manuel Diez and a high delegation of industrialists from the plastic sector.
