Ortega supporter Mario José Armengol Campos, former leader of the National Union of Students of Nicaragua (UNEN), controlled by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, was awarded a fourth embassy in the Southeast Asia region.
He was appointed as “extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, in a concurrent capacity, with headquarters in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.”

In less than six months, Armengol Campos has been awarded four embassies in the Asian territory. Last June, he was first appointed Nicaraguan ambassador to Vietnam, the country where he currently resides.
The former UNEN leader, whose diplomatic career is not known, is also ambassador to Malaysia and, on September 13, the regime granted him that position for diplomatic negotiations with Singapore, with both countries acting as concurrent ambassadors.
The National System for the Prevention, Mitigation and Response to Natural Disasters (Sinapred), through official media, reported that the intense rains that have been recorded since September 23 have caused serious damage in at least nine municipalities in Nicaragua.
The municipalities most affected by the rains, according to the Sinapred report, so far are: Jalapa, Murra, Juigalpa, Potosí, San Francisco del Norte, Villa El Carmen, El Crucero, San Rafael del Sur and La Paz Centro.

The document details that so far in the country a total of “181 homes have been temporarily flooded, eight houses destroyed, five vehicles swept away by the currents, one bridge collapsed and trees fallen” have been recorded.
Sinapred, together with the support of members of the Municipal Committee for Disaster Prevention and Response (Comupred), also evacuated 540 people.
