MINSA: «This has been the year with the most cases of severe dengue since 1993»

Dr. Tamara Salcedo, Head of Epidemiology at the Ministry of Health, said on Radio Panama that the population must become more aware of how to eliminate the mosquito that transmits dengue, since 110 serious cases of this disease have been reported this year, something that has not been seen since 1993.

He asks the population to be more vigilant in avoiding breeding sites because fumigation kills the adult mosquito, but if awareness is not raised to eliminate breeding sites, the life cycle of the mosquito will continue, causing disease among people.

He also called for the vaccination of children against measles. Although our country has not reported any cases of this disease, there have been cases in the Americas and it is better to be prepared.

House-to-house vaccination for minors will begin on October 1 and will cover the entire month.
