Char added: “This prestigious international event will bring together leaders from 38 countries, representing 68% of global GDP, to discuss major economic challenges and sustainable development strategies.”

According to the mayor, Barranquilla competed for the venue with other cities such as Porto (Portugal), Cali (Colombia), Florence (Italy) and Melbourne (Australia), and was chosen for its commitment to sustainable development, its urban transformation, the closing of social gaps and its track record in international events.

“The Forum brings together representatives from regional and national governments, employment and training agencies, economic and community development agencies, chambers of commerce, social innovators, businesses and NGOs,” the agency points out.
