A total of 24 people, including students, teachers, administrators and support staff, have been affected by the Application of pesticides on land near several educational centers from the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís (SFM), in the Duarte province.
The authorities of the Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) in that demarcation reiterated that they have been struggling with the same problem for more than a year.

Regarding the incidents, Robert Frías, president of the ADP in that district, said that teaching in those educational centers will remain virtual “until the constant poisonings are definitively resolved.”
“We condemn the lack of government responsibility on the part of state agencies, which should ensure the health and life of citizens, in this case, students, teachers, support staff and administrative staff of educational centers located in agricultural environments. There has been a constant problem of poisoning due to the irresponsible application of pesticides in the areas of the municipal districts of Antonio Guzmán Fernández and Cenoví,” he said.
