Electoral Court approves Lopez Casarin's victory in the Alvaro Obregon mayor's office

“With these sentences, the victory is confirmed and, consequently, the inauguration as Mayor of Álvaro Obregón on October 1,” he said.

Casarín said he will work hand in hand with the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, and the future head of government, Clara Brugada.

“Thanks to your trust, we will build a community and the second floor of the 4th Transformation will reach Álvaro Obregón,” he said.

The INE detected unreported expenses in López Casarín’s campaign, which were found as a result of the investigation of two complaints, one of them filed by his adversary, Lía Limón.

On June 2, López Casarín won the race for mayor of Álvaro Obregón, the third most populous municipality in Mexico City, with 209,000 votes.

Javier López Casarín is an entrepreneur with experience in the financial, telecommunications and technology sectors, as well as in the field of social promotion.

He is the president of the Reinventando a México Foundation, which focuses on developing new ideas, promoting challenging projects, and holding international events that provide spaces for reflection and analysis of our reality to conceive paths to building a better Mexico.

He is also President of the Conference of Local Authorities of North America (CALAN) and the Network of Mayors (RECAN), Honorary Advisor to the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of the Chamber of Deputies LXIV Legislature, as well as the Legal Commission of the CONCAMIN Confederation.

He has been a speaker on the subject of Innovation in countries of the European Union, the United States, Central America and of course Mexico.

He was a Federal Deputy for the LXV Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies, where he chaired the Technical Council of Knowledge and Innovation (COTECI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Mexico.

Javier López Casarín has been identified as a businessman close to former Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard.

In 2021, he was appointed by proportional representation as a plurinominal federal deputy for Mexico City.

Ahead of the 2024 electoral contest, López Casarín was one of the 16 PVEM deputies who showed their support for Marcelo Ebrard, to be Morena’s presidential candidate.

He snatched the Álvaro Obregón mayor’s office from the PAN-PRI-PRD alliance.
