Who is the new president of Central Romana?

The Board of Directors of Roman Central Corporation has appointed Jose Fanjul Jr.. as the company’s new president, effective today. Alfonso Fanjul and José “Pepe” Fanjul will continue to serve as co-chairmen and co-CEOs of the company, the company announced on Wednesday.

The information, released through a press release, indicates that with the promotion of José Fanjul Jr., engineer Eduardo Martínez-Lima Gonzalvo and Leonardo Matos García have also been appointed as executive vice presidents, who, together with Ramón Menéndez, will lead the executive operations of Roman Central.

“With these appointments, the corporate structure of Roman Centralensuring its continued existence as a company and planning new economic investments for the future that will continue to promote its growth and the well-being of the community,” the company said in the press release.

In addition to his new role, Jose Fanjul Jr.. has been confirmed in his position as vice-chairman of the Board of Directors of Roman Central Corporation, Ltd.

  • This change in leadership coincides with the 40th anniversary of the majority acquisition of the Roman Central by the Fanjul brothers in 1984, together with their local partners Ramón Menéndez, Carlos Morales Troncoso and Eduardo Martínez Lima, now deceased.

Since then, the note adds, that Roman Central has maintained its commitment to social responsibility, diversifying its businesses in different productive sectors of the Dominican Republic.

The company is recognized as the major sugar manufacturer of the country and has been a pioneer in the development of projects in real estate tourism, marinas and yacht clubs, as well as in the creation of the first meat processing plant internationally certified under the FSC 22000 standard, among other notable initiatives.
