Berta Soler, a key figure in Cuba’s women’s opposition movement, was arrested by plainclothes officers as she left the Ladies in White National Headquarters. Her husband, former political prisoner Angel Moya, said authorities have not provided any information about her whereabouts, raising concerns about her safety. “I hold the Cuban communist regime and State Security responsible for Berta’s physical integrity,” Moya told reporters. The Ladies in White, a group formed by relatives of political prisoners from the Black Spring of 2003, continue to be a constant target of harassment by Cuban authorities. In addition to Soler, five other Ladies in White remain imprisoned for their peaceful activism in defense of human rights: Sissi Abascal Zamora, Sayli Navarro Alvarez, Jacqueline Heredia Morales, Tania Echevarria Menendez and Aymara Nieto Munoz.
