A four-year-old girl and two women died after a fire broke out in a house where mattresses were recycled for sale, an incident that occurred in Gramoven (Las Barandas sector) in the Sucre parish of Caracas.
According to the police report, neighbors reported that several homeless people were the cause of the fire.
The victims respond to the names of: Yorgelis Brito (25), Sady Maibel Muñoz González (22) and her four-year-old daughter, Arlis Álvarez.
The fire in the two-story residence was attended to by the Caracas Fire Department and the Capital Civil Protection. The burning of the mattresses caused the house to be completely destroyed.
The commander of the Capital District Fire Department, Pablo Palacios, reported that the flames were quickly extinguished to stop “their possible spread to adjacent areas.”
He also explained that there was only minor damage to the surrounding homes.
