On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the diplomatic and friendly relations between the Republic of Serbian and the Republic of Cubaa ceramic mural dedicated to that European country was inaugurated today in the capital city of Jaimanitas.
The renowned plastic artist Jose Rodriguez Fustercreator of the work, expressed his satisfaction with the result and mentioned that the realization of the artistic work was in full complicity with the Serbs, who remained aware of every detail of the creation process.
For his part, the ambassador of the European country, Danilo Pantovic, expressed his gratitude to Fuster to the press and the accredited diplomatic corps on the island and admired the qualities of the Cuban artist, such as his ability to convey emotions, love, and He said that precisely this work will express in the first place that love between Serbia and Cuba.
In addition, he mentioned that the “Serbia” mural marks the beginning of a whole year of diplomatic celebrations and affirmed that both countries maintain a relationship of friendship, support, understanding and brotherhood, especially since the glorious victory of the Cuban revolution in January 1959.
In the last 63 years, the climate of good understanding has been maintained, traveling together in the international arena, with mutual support in the most important spaces for both countries, fighting firmly for the preservation of sovereignty and independence.
For her part, Jelena Zivojino, cultural counselor of the Serbian embassy, explained that the mural represents the most outstanding elements of the history and culture of that European nation, such as the image of Nikola Tesla, one of the best-known Serbs in the world for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current electricity supply system.
It can also be seen in the ceramic work, the Serbian Orthodox Christian monastery Visoki Dečani, which dates from the eleventh century and in 2004 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO; In addition, the symbol of the Cyrillic alphabet, the national fruits of that country and other Cuban identity elements such as the rooster, the royal palm, the crocodile and the musicians are added.
Since this Monday the work is part of the allegorical murals to the nations created outdoors by Fuster in the Havana town of Jaimanitas, which can be appreciated by visitors.
