Venezuela strengthens cooperation ties at the UN General Assembly

During the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly taking place in New York City, United States, the Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, met with various personalities and leaders from around the world.

Gil met with his counterpart from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Saleumxay Kommasith, with the aim of strengthening ties of cooperation between both nations.

Through his Telegram channel, the Venezuelan representative expressed his honor of having held a conversation with the foreign minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, “where we reaffirmed our cooperation and friendship as members of the Global South, joining our efforts to strengthen peace and international cooperation.”

The ambassador appointed by the National Government to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Juan Carlos Fernández Juárez, on July 3, presented Credentials to President Thongloun Sisoulith, in the city of Vientiane.

Reaffirming the special bonds of brotherhood that unite both nations, on that occasion President Sisoulith recalled his visit to Caracas in 2007, his meeting with Commander Hugo Chávez, the friendship he maintains with the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, consolidated since his time as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and stressed the will to continue working in favor of peace and to continue strengthening political ties to achieve common objectives that bring their peoples and governments even closer.

Venezuela and Saint Kitts and Nevis review new cooperation opportunities

Foreign Minister Gil held a meeting at the United Nations headquarters with his counterpart from Saint Kitts and Nevis, Denzil Llewellyn Douglas, to evaluate new opportunities for cooperation.

Through his Telegram channel, the foreign minister indicated that during the meeting the bilateral and cooperation agenda carried out by both nations for the benefit of their peoples was also reviewed.

“We continue to strengthen our bonds of friendship,” said Gil about the meeting that took place on the occasion of the 79th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), in New York, United States.

Venezuela and Saint Kitts and Nevis established diplomatic relations on October 31, 1983, which in recent years have been marked by the principles of solidarity and complementarity derived from the membership of both in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (Alba-TCP), the Foreign Ministry said.

The Minister also held a conversation with the Foreign Minister of Somalia, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, on the importance of strengthening ties of cooperation and moving forward in the struggle as members of the Global South, “to address our common challenges.”

Venezuela and Uganda

During the UN General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda, Jeje Odongo, where he conveyed a cordial greeting from President Nicolás Maduro and where they discussed issues to “strengthen friendship and cooperation between our countries to promote the development of our regions.”

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Gil reported that he held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, in the context of the UN General Assembly, “it is an important step to strengthen cooperation between countries and advance shared objectives. It is essential to maintain open communication and dialogue to identify opportunities for collaboration and overcome common challenges.”

The highest representative of the Bolivarian Diplomacy of Peace together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of East Africa of Tanzania, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, reinforced the willingness to strengthen cooperation and the strategic alliance between both countries.

CELAC-China

The Foreign Minister of the Republic, Yván Gil, reported that a significant meeting of the Extended Troika of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) with China was held within the UN, “where we have made progress in cooperation for development and mutual benefit. In this multipolar context, in which solidarity between peoples is fundamental, our objective is to strengthen collaboration and promote sustainable economic growth for the well-being of all.”
