The episode Circus Lifefrom the Circus series, shown on TV Brazil in 2022, it was awarded Best Short / Documentary at the first edition of the Momo International Film Festival, promoted by Momo – Museu do Circo, located in Lousã, Portugal. The award was announced this Sunday (22) by the institution.
The Circos series was an original production by TV Brazilwith 4 episodes, focused on the professions that make up the day-to-day life of the circus. The fourth episode, which won an award, talks about the lives of all the circus workers and their particularities.
Proposed and recorded in 2019, based on the suggestion of cameraman João Marcos Barboza, the series was recorded with TV crews, directed, scripted and produced by in-house employees. Approved in an internal selection, it also faced an unexpected difficulty, almost a circus stunt: the headquarters of TV Brazil in São Paulo was hit by a flood in February 2019, which compromised the material being edited. The headquarters underwent reconstruction and the material was recovered, after an effort by journalist, producer and director Renato Fanti, who had the idea of registering the production for the festival. After the turnaround, it was possible to recover the work, which involved 18 professionals from the house.
“The recognition is very important because it endorses the quality of what was done here,” said Vitor Chambron, director, producer and one of those responsible for the series. “Receiving this award for the work we are able to do reaffirms the quality of this work, made to occupy an important space in the series’ schedule.” TV Brazil. This grid already has a space for documentaries, but many are from outside, from independent producers, licensed”, he pointed out.
The award also highlights the importance of audience participation in suggesting new episodes, or even new programs. “Suggestions on this topic and others can be sent to our production contacts, such as my email, [email protected], and then we will curate characters and topics. Originally we wanted to make a second season, with 4 more episodes, but that wasn’t possible. Maybe with this recognition we will be able to continue,” added Vitor.
