At the honorary session for the 214th anniversary of the libertarian feat of Santa Cruz, the president of the Municipal Council of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Silvana Mucarzel Demetry, He asked politicians to give priority to the department cruceño leaving aside personal interests.
“It is important that those who are involved in politics seek to genuinely serve their country and not sectarian interests that harm Santa Cruz and the country. Let these people step aside. If their priority is to obtain personal advantages or benefits,” he emphasized.
Mucarzel called on all political actors to unite for the good of the country and Santa Cruz in order to improve the future of its inhabitants and to be able to “mark a before and after”.
“These sectors must be direct participants in national, departmental and municipal decisions. They must stop looking at what happens in the political world, to be direct actors, to make decisions that transform the destiny of this region and this country, which we love dearly. In this sense, thinking about the processes that are coming, it is prudent to ask everyone who is looking for their personal interests, family interests or those of their related groups, to step aside from politics or from a candidacy” he added.
The president said that Bolivia needs leaders who “truly serve this land and its people” and asked to give space to young people and people who have not had opportunities, but who have honest values, without double talk and who act in accordance with what they say.
“It is time to prioritize Santa Cruz in the framework of national development, because as our region grows, we will be supporting and promoting national development. Those who do not understand this will not be able to promote any solid, forceful and sustainable public policy. It is time for a true economic, social and political leadership from Santa Cruz and, We must not tire of repeating it, “It is time for young people, for women, for new authentic leaders,” he said.
He also said that the Council activated a series of mechanisms with the aim of respecting municipal property in the face of encroachments, which generated displeasure in “those who do not respect the law, who It even generated a couple of processes expressed in judicial protection against the councilors.”
On the other hand, Mucarzel questioned as a “citizen” the forest fires in the department, fires that have so far devastated cwith more than 4 million hectares in our region.
