The new Military Attorney General, Elías Plasencia Mondragón, was appointed to this position on August 19 by Vladimir Padrino López, Minister of Defense. Brigadier General José Daniel Monsalve Maldonado was appointed Presiding Judge of the Military Court Martial and Criminal Judicial Circuit.
This Monday, September 23, the Attorney General of the Republic appointed by the 2020 National Assembly, Tarek William Saab, swore in Colonel Elías Plasencia Mondragón as Military Attorney General.
The event took place in the meeting room of the Office with the presence of military prosecutors and general directors of the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), according to this organization’s social media.
Saab stressed that with this swearing-in there would be a new channel of exchange and coordination between both bodies with a permanent liaison office, exchange in terms of internal resolutions, control and monitoring, as well as in terms of training, the MP said in its publication.
Colonel Plasencia, for his part, said that he would carry out his duties “always in compliance with our Constitution” and with the “laws, regulations, current legal norms, agreements and treaties” to respect “constitutional guarantees, due process and the defense and protection of human rights, where you have proven to be a master.”
Plasencia was appointed Military Attorney General last August 19th by General in Chief Vladimir Padrino Lopez, Minister of Defense. At the same event, Brigadier General Jose Daniel Monsalve Maldonado was appointed Presiding Judge of the Military Court Martial and Criminal Judicial Circuit.
Plasencia will replace Monsalve Maldonado as the new military prosecutor.
