The New York Subway, the terror train

The New York subway is more like a horror escape game than a means of public transportation, which has become the scene of most of the violence in the city.

At least six people were stabbed in the city’s subway system over the weekend, adding to attacks in recent weeks.

The wave of attacks began, paradoxically, just hours after Mayor Eric Adams and New York Governor Kathy Hochul unveiled a new plan to combat violence on public transportation on January 1.

Since then, almost daily stabbings, beatings and robberies have occurred weekly in the underground system.

Not even the “Metro Safety Plan” implemented by the mayor and governor, which involved the deployment of more police and mental health teams throughout the metro system, did not help combat the violence.

Last weekend, and still despite the project, six people were stabbed in the subway system.

The sixth person was stabbed Sunday night on the 6 line near Canal Street, the New York Police Department reported today.

In the first incident, which was reported Friday night, a male victim was allegedly cut on the forearm, the NYPD told NBC News.

The man was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, police said.

At least four incidents were reported on Saturday, with a suspect accused of punching a 20-year-old woman in the back, according to police.

The woman was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

In another incident on Saturday night, a 24-year-old man was reportedly stabbed in the leg with a knife after two teenagers approached him and tried to rob him.

The suspects fled the scene, police said.

The weekend attacks came as the city continues to grapple with rising crime on public transportation, with serious crimes up 65% this year, according to NBC New York.

The stabbings have not stopped, despite calls for greater safety on public transport following the death of Michelle Go, 40, who died when she was pushed in front of a subway car last month.

Go, who was attacked by a homeless man, was waiting for a train at the Times Square station when she was pushed from behind.

“It is cruel and inhumane to allow homeless people to live on the subway, and unfair to pay transit riders and workers who deserve a clean, orderly and safe environment,” Adams said in a statement.
