As the seven-day march led by former President Evo Morales arrives in the city of La Paz, The Murillo square at the Government headquarters is heavily guarded by police and organizations who support President Luis Arce.

Departmental Police Commander Edgar Cortez said they are taking all necessary precautions to prevent any type of violent action.

We are on alert “to avoid any kind of confrontation, disturbance or public order,” the police chief confirmed in the past few hours.

For his part, the peasant leader of the arcist wing, Lucio Quispe, said that they are “protecting” the Casa Grande del Pueblo, which is the new Bolivian Government Palace, located near Plaza Murillo.

All the organizations have moved here to protect our Casa Grande and we are going to enforce our Political Constitution of the State so that there are no coups (d’état), which are being prepared in that march,” he said.

The march led by MoralesThe march, called “to save Bolivia”, began on September 17 from the town of Caracollo and after seven days of walking along the Oruro-La Paz highway, amidst some acts of violence, finally arrived at the seat of government on Monday.

Some of the leaders of the Evo mobilization assured that they will also try to enter the Murillo square.

The march arrived in El Alto on the morning of Monday the 23rd.
