The group brings together representatives from 19 of the nations with the largest economies in the world, in addition to the European Union and the African Union, and discusses topics relevant to the global macroeconomy, monitoring risks and uncertainties that may affect the global scenario and projections for development.

The WG discussions also cover areas with potential for policy coordination aimed at promoting global growth that is strong, sustainable, balanced and inclusive.

The agenda proposed by Brazil is centered on issues such as the inclusion of inequality in global macroeconomic debates and the need for economic analyses to consolidate climate change as a variable.

During the two-day meeting, delegates are expected to present experiences of how their countries deal with macroeconomic issues and the impacts of climate change.

Before this week’s meeting, the Global Economy WG had already met three other times this year, under the Brazilian presidency, the last of which was in Belgium, in June.
