One day before the Santa Cruz anniversary, the protocol acts begin commemoration of the liberating feat. This Monday, both the Departmental Legislative Assembly (ALD) and the Municipal Council have prepared honorary sessions to celebrate the department’s 214 years of freedom.
Departmental Assembly
At 17:00, the ALD will hold its session in its hemicycle. During it, it will award the Dr. Andrés Ibáñez Order in the degree of Grand Cross of Potenzada to seven outstanding personalities and institutions in the department.
The following people will be honoured: SOS Children’s Villages and the NGO Nativa, for their contribution to social welfare and environmental protection, respectively. In addition, five personalities will be honoured: the runner Charbel Mendoza, the Musician Ruben Dario Suarezdoctor Eun Shil Chung, architect Sergio Antelo and Colonel Franklin Villazón, for their outstanding careers in different areas.
City Council
The Municipal Council of Santa Cruz de la Sierra will distinguish as Illustrious son of the recently deceased composer and singer Aldo Peña.
The tribute will take place during the formal ceremony, which will take place at the Municipal House, which is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. this Monday.
Serenade to Santa Cruz
At 11:00 pm, in El Arenal Park The celebration of the serenade to the department and the coronation of the queen of Santa Cruz, Lía Barrientos, is planned.
Celebrations of September 24th
The Santa Cruz Governorate announced last week that three activities will take place on Tuesday morning, the 24th: flag raising, floral offering and Te Deum.
Although this year there will not be a military-civic parade, as is customary, the Governor’s Office indicated that a civic-citizen parade will be held. The reason: to avoid expenses at a time when the department is hit by forest fires.
