Starting at 10 am this Monday (23), around 511 thousand taxpayers who submitted their Personal Income Tax Return will know if they have settled their accounts with the IRS. At this time, the Federal Revenue Service will release the consultation of the last of the five batches of refunds for 2023, with the inclusion of around 86 thousand taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul who are entitled to receive. The batch also includes residual refunds from previous years.
In total, 511,025 taxpayers will receive R$1.03 billion. Approximately 40% of the amount, the IRS reported, will go to taxpayers with priority for reimbursement. Due to the floods in Rio Grande do Sul this year, Gaucho taxpayers were included in the priority list.
Residents of Rio Grande do Sul who regularized their tax return in July were added to the priority list. Last month, 47,238 taxpayers from Rio Grande do Sul received refunds, including from previous years.
Regarding the priority list, the majority, 201,381 taxpayers, informed the Pix key of the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) type in the Income Tax return or used the pre-filled declaration. Since last year, the Pix key information gives priority in receiving.
Next, there are 106,289 taxpayers who did not provide their Pix key and do not fit into any of the legal priority categories. This is the third batch to include non-priority taxpayers.
In third place, there are 86,570 taxpayers residing in Rio Grande do Sul. In fourth place, there are 75,686 taxpayers between 60 and 79 years old. In fifth place, there are 23,180 taxpayers whose main source of income is teaching. The remaining taxpayers are 11,188 elderly taxpayers over 80 years old and 6,731 taxpayers with some physical or mental disability or serious illness.
The consultation can be made at Federal Revenue website. All the taxpayer needs to do is click on “My Income Tax” and then on the “Check Refund” button. It is also possible to check the refund on the Federal Revenue app for tablets and smartphones.
Payment will be made on September 30th, to the account or Pix key of the CPF type informed in the Income Tax return. If the taxpayer is not on the list, he/she must enter the Virtual Taxpayer Service Center (e-CAC) and obtain the statement extract. If you find anything pending, you can send a corrective statement and wait for the next batches of the fine mesh.
If, for some reason, the refund is not deposited into the account indicated in the declaration, as in the case of a deactivated account, the amounts will be available for withdrawal for up to one year at Banco do Brasil. In this case, the citizen may schedule the credit to any bank account in their name, through BB Portal or by calling the bank’s Customer Service Center on 4004-0001 (capital cities), 0800-729-0001 (other locations) and 0800-729-0088 (special telephone number exclusively for the hearing impaired).
If the taxpayer does not receive the amount of his/her refund after one year, he/she must request the amount on the e-CAC Portal. Upon accessing the page, the citizen must access the “Declarations and Statements” menu, click on “My Income Tax” and then on the field “Request refund not received in the banking network”.
