For this reason, she is considering coming to Peru to visit her ex-husband’s grave, according to Punto Final on Sunday.

In a conversation in English with the Sunday paper, he said he is discussing with his lawyer whether he would be entitled to any inheritance or life pension.

Kataoka married Alberto Fujimori in 2006 under Japanese law and the last time she had contact with the former president was four months ago via video call. The conversation revolved around Fujimori’s illnesses.

The businesswoman said she learned of her husband’s death through her son Shinnosuke, whom Fujimori loved like a son.

In a statement last week, Kataoka, 56, said he loved Fujimori like a father.

According to her version, the relationship “never turned cold” and they always kept in touch.

She now hopes to visit her late husband’s grave when he recovers from cancer.

Fujimori and Kataoka met in Tokyo in 2001 and lived together until the former president left for Chile. They married in April 2006 under Japanese law, which does not require the physical presence of the bride and groom. At the time, the former president was imprisoned in Santiago de Chile at the request of the Peruvian authorities.
