Victory and a draw for Bolivia at the close of the World Chess Olympiad

The men’s chess team closed its participation in the World Olympiad that ended this Sunday in Budapest, Hungary, with a victory over Chinese Taipei (3-1), while the women’s team tied with Thailand (2-2).

With these latest scores, the men’s team achieved six wins and five losses for finish in 74th place among 197 nations in the general classification.

The ladies had five wins, one draw and five losses. to place himself in position 80 out of 183 participants.

On the last day of competition, The men’s team was made up of Grand Master (GM) Osvaldo Zambrana, International Master (IM) Licael Ticona, Fide Master (FM) Daniel Pinto and Jonathan Montevilla.

The Green team won two games with Ticona beating GM Raymond Song and Pinto against FM Ching Yang, while Zambrana drew against IM Adelard Bai and Montevilla against Ting-Hao Wang.

The women’s team was composed of World Wide International Masters (WIM) Daniela Cordero and Nataly Monroy; World Wide International Masters (WFM) Jessica Molina and Carla Gareca.

Bolivia’s two victories were thanks to Monroy over Candidate Master (WCM) Araya Prommuang ya Molina against Sasinat Tawankanjana. The losses were for Cordero against Fide Master (WFM) Sarocha Chuemsakul and for Gareca against Natasha Mekarapiruk.
