Senamhi indicated that temperatures during this season of the year would be up to one and a half degrees below normal values. It should be noted that this year, winter had cold days and even colder nights, reaching temperatures of up to 9.3 °C in some districts, a figure that had not been observed at the Von Humboldt meteorological station in La Molina since 1981.

Grinia Ávalos, deputy director of Climate Prediction at Senamhi, said that the quarterly forecast shows a There is a high probability that temperatures during spring will reach up to one and a half degrees below what is usual for this season.

“In Lima, at the beginning of spring, night temperatures are usually between 14 and 15 degrees, because winter weather patterns remain, such as cloudy days and drizzle, but This year they will be lower than usual, due to the presence of the South Pacific anticyclone,” he pointed out.

He said that coastal districts will be the most affected by the cold, since night temperatures are influenced by the sea, which still presents negative anomalies.

Senamhi stated that in metropolitan Lima the districts located on the coast will show temperatures ranging between 14°C and 23°C, on average. Meanwhile, the districts furthest from the sea such as La Molina, Ate, Santa Anita, San Juan de Lurigancho, among others, will reach temperatures between 13°C and 24°C, on average. In addition, it is not ruled out minimum values around 12°C and presence of cold days and nights.

Grinia Ávalos clarified that night temperatures in September, October and November will be colder than normal, but will not be as low as this winter. As the weeks go by, a progressive increase in sunlight is expected.
