A total of 179 refrigeration and air conditioning technicians were certified yesterday after being trained under environmental standards.
The new technicians certified by the National Institute for Technical and Professional Training (Infotep) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, have licenses to operate in accordance with the international standards of the Montreal Protocol of 1987 and the Kigali Amendment of 2016 of the United Nations, of which the country is a signatory.
According to the director of Infotep, Rafael Santos BadiaWith these licenses, technicians are committed to eliminating fluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon components as refrigerants from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners in vehicles, homes, industries and offices.
“We are proud to say that the DR is leading the way in compliance and implementation of these vital standards for preserving the ozone layer.” he said.
The training programme, Infotep said, responds to the demand for specialist technicians in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning, which is vital for the operation of industries.
He said that Infotep therefore carried out an exhaustive training process, not only in the acquisition of technical skills, but also in the internationalisation of principles such as job security, respect for the environment and customer service.
