José Marte Piantini takes office as consul in Madrid

José Marte Piantini asume cargo como cónsul en Madrid

Lawyer and politician José Marte Piantini has been officially sworn in as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Madrid, Spain.

The event was chaired by Ambassador Juan Bolívar Díaz, who thanked the outgoing consul, Miguel Ángel Vásquez Peña, for his important contributions to Dominicans abroad, highlighting his commitment and achievements during his administration.

During his first speech as Consul General, Marte Piantini said that he will continue with the work carried out in this administration led by President Luis Abinader, now from the European country.

“I am committed to working for a management marked by efficiency and close service to my fellow citizens,” said the Consul General.

“My office at the Consulate of the Republic in Madrid will be open to all Dominicans, regardless of political affiliations. I came to Madrid with the firm intention of being close to the people, and learning from this great community of Dominicans residing here,” said Marte Piantini, appointed by decree 390-24 of President Luis Abinader.

For his part, Vásquez Peña, outgoing consul, expressed his gratitude to the consular corps for their dedication and commitment during his administration and highlighted the achievements made during the last two years in charge of the Consular Mission.

The event was attended by members of the diplomatic and consular corps, such as: Carmen Amelia Cedeño, Minister Counselor; Anyoli Ceballos, Defense Attaché; Marlie Santana, Third Secretary; the vice consuls, Francisbel Jerez, Francisco Abreu, Picitrato Álvarez Franco, José Julio III Schiffino Álvarez, Milton López, and Enrique Caminero.

Also attending were: Antonio Yapor, alternate representative of the Dominican Republic to the ICAO and member of the JAC, Anabel Bueno Santana-Dolenc, ambassador, Representative of the Dominican Republic to the UN – TOURISM (UNWTO), Cynthia Favero Ballesteros, director of the Master’s in International Law, diplomat and consular with a mention in Foreign Trade and International Jurist of ISDE, Paola Rainieri, vice president of Marketing, Public Relations and Communications of the Puntacana Group.

Jose E. Marte Piantini

Before taking on this new challenge, Marte Piantini served as president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC). He is a graduate of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), with solid experience in the public and private sectors, in addition to being the founder of his own law firm.

In 2010, he completed his studies in Constitutional Law (Constitutional Justice and Jurisdictional Guarantees) and in Administrative Law and Public Law in 2012, both at the University of Castilla – La Mancha, where he also obtained a Master’s Degree in Constitutional Law and Public Law.
