3-4: San Lorenzo falls to penultimate place

San Lorenzo de Almagro fell this Monday before Defense and Justice 3-4 on the third day of the Argentine League Cup de Fútbol and was penultimate in Zone A with one point after starring in a match full of goals.

The Barça team, who had drawn 0-0 against Banfield in their debut and lost 1-0 to Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata the previous day, fell to the runner-up of last tournament, who scored the first goal of the match at 8 minutes thanks to Walter Bou. Also in Zone A, Banfield thrashed Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata 4-0 and entered the qualifying zone for the quarterfinals.

Juan Álvarez, Agustín Urzi, Juan Cruz and Jesús Dátolo, the latter two from penalties, scored the goals for Drill, which was already 1-0 after fifteen minutes.

Banfield reached five points, two less than the surprising leader Platense and one less than River Plate and Argentinos Juniors, who will play this Tuesday against Racing Club.

Tigre beats Barracas in the duel of modest

In Zone B, the recently promoted Tigre got into the classification zone by beating the other team that rose from the Second Division: Barracas Central by 0-2. Ijiel Protti and Pablo Magnin, one in the first half and the other in the second, scored the goals.
