Cubans Eday Gómez and Adrián Pérez won bronze in the team tournament of the Mexican Table Tennis League, in Mérida, where the main objective was to accumulate international experience,
The institutional sports publication Jit reported today.
The Cubans, led by Osdani Romero, achieved the bronze by beating the players of the Anahuac club 3-0.
In the individual event, the Cubans reached the main draw, but in the quarterfinals, Pérez fell 2-4 against Colombian Alexander Echavarría, who was later crowned; and Gómez lost with a similar balance against the Mexican Juan Rondón.
Gómez and Pérez are registered for the Senior Caribbean Table Tennis Championship, from March 3 to 8 in Havana.
Cuba will compete in all the modalities called, individual, doubles and by women’s and men’s teams, as well as in mixed doubles (made up of one player of each sex), according to the official website of the Latin American Table Tennis Union.
