Anápolis and Retrô will begin to decide the title of the Série D of the Brazilian Championship this Sunday (22) from 4 pm (Brasília time) at the Jonas Duarte stadium, in Anápolis (Goiás). The clash, between teams seeking the unprecedented trophy of the national competition, will be broadcast live on TV Brazil.
With seven games unbeaten, but without winning in the last five matches, Anapólis reaches the final after defeating Maringá (Paraná) in a penalty shootout in the semifinals. Galo da Comarca has only three losses in the competition and finished the first stage of Série D as the second placed team in group A5. In the knockout stage, the team from Goiás beat Cianorte (Paraná), Iguatu (Ceará) and Maringá.
Founded in 2016, Retrô dreams of winning its first title in history. In the semifinals, the team from Pernambuco eliminated Itabaiana (Sergipe) on penalties. Fênix played the initial phase in Group A4, finishing in second place. In the knockout stage, the team from Sergipe also beat América de Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) and Brasiliense (DF). The team led by coach Itamar Schulle has forward Mascote as its greatest hope for goals. He has already scored 8 goals in the competition and is in the running for the top scorer in Série D.
After this Sunday’s clash, Retrô and Anápolis will face each other again next Sunday (29), starting at 5 pm, at Arena Pernambuco, in Recife.
