The Supreme Court’s Plenary Chamber yesterday ordered the creation of a commission to investigate how many judges of the Lima Court of Justice were corrupted by the television presenter, who has been detained since last Thursday.
This group will be made up of Supreme Court Justices Elvia Barrios and Ramiro Bustamante, who must issue a report within 15 days on the irregularities committed.
The agreement was approved by the Plenary Court after noting that two criminal judges have maintained links with the popular ‘Chibolín’ that compromised their functions.
Judge Paola Valdivia admitted to the Beto program that she knew Hurtado and that he remodeled the interior of her home.
Valdivia said that it was her husband who arranged with the artist to “change some things in the room.” These favors, of course, were not free.
As a result, the judge declined to continue as a member of the Second Appeals Chamber for Corruption and Organized Crime of Lima, seeing that “my honorability and professional performance had been harmed.”
The other judge involved is the president of the Lima Court, María Vidal, since under her administration Andrés Hurtado would have organized a party for Judge’s Day, in 2023.
Furthermore, his children are believed to be friends with Hurtado’s daughters. More than one photo would prove this closeness, although Vidal denies it.
He remains alone
The clearest proof that Andrés Hurtado is surrounded by the Prosecutor’s Office is that his new lawyer abandoned him. Julio Rodríguez resigned yesterday from continuing to represent him after only one day had passed since he took over his defense.
At the identity check hearing, Hurtado Grados was assisted by public defender Christian Tasayco. At the hearing, which took place at the Lima Prefecture, ‘Chibolín’ starred in episodes that reveal his nebulous situation.
For example, he was unable to specify where he lived. When he recalled it, after reading his ID, he said that his home was a rented apartment located in Miraflores and that the owner had already asked him to leave the place. He also reported that he only studied up to the 5th grade of primary school.
He also said that he had recently been hired by Munisalud, a clinic run by the Municipality of La Molina. However, a few hours later, this entity denied this statement and confirmed that he had never had a contract.
On the other hand, Perú21 had access to the report of the medical examiner who examined the former comedian after he was arrested. It was concluded that the suspect is a “clinically stable patient” and that he is undergoing post-operative balanoplasty (surgery to correct problems in the glans).
