Alberto Otárola accuses Minister Morgan Quero of extorting him with “compromising video”

Former President of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otároladeclared before the Public Prosecutor’s Office that Morgan Quero would have had intentions to extort him with an alleged intimate video in November 2023, when he was an advisor to Dina Boluarte.

According to the former prime minister, the Minister of Culture gave him César Figueredo’s CV, insisting that he should be appointed as chief of the National Superintendence of Public Records (Sunarp), and then allegedly threatened to show a personal video in which the former official allegedly promised to offer a job to Yaziré Pinedo.

In the document released by journalist Carlos Viguria and to which La República also had access, Otárola explained that Morgan Quero went to his home on a Saturday to show him a video from his cell phone, which had been given to him by Figueredo, implying that he would use this material to pressure him“He showed me on his cell phone that he was carrying an apparently intimate video in which he told me the same thing that Mr. Figueredo had provided him. In that conversation I defended my right to privacy,” the statements read.

In the same conversation, Otárola defended her right to privacynoting that both the audio and video were allegedly recorded in 2021, before he assumed any public office. The following day, as stated by the former prime minister, Quero tried to meet with President Boluarte to inform you about the video.

Vizcarra, Nicanor Boluarte and Quero are investigated for plotting against Otárola

The Prosecutor’s Office has initiated a preliminary investigation against former President Martín Vizcarra, Nicanor Boluarte, brother of President Dina Boluarte, the current Minister of Education, Morgan Quero, César Figueredo and Yaziré Pinedo, for their alleged participation in a case of extortion against the former head of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otárola.
