AREQUIPA, Peru – Four Cubans who attacked a family home in the Peñas Altas neighborhood, Matanzas province, were arrested as a result of an investigation by the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).
A report from the state Caribbean Channel He said that the defendants are under provisional detention and will have to face trial for several crimes, including robbery with violence and intimidation of persons.
The criminals broke the door, window and padlock during the early hours of the morning in order to enter the house and steal the belongings of the family, made up of a married couple, their adult daughter and their baby of just 23 months.
While they were sleeping, the victims were surprised by their attackers, causing them various injuries.
“In our case, we were attacked with knives and in my wife’s case they hit her in the septum (…) they asked us for our belongings and dollars,” says the father.
“The person who was in the middle of the hallway, between my mother’s room and mine, suddenly opened the door. My instinct was to go up to him and hold him back with my hand because he was carrying a knife,” said another of the victims. “A knife that I immediately realized was from the house.”
The young woman says that the attacker stung her hand, forearm, the back of her back and threw her to the ground. He also hit her and gagged her, repeatedly warning her: “Don’t scream.”
According to the official report, the thieves “believed that it was a wealthy familyHowever, since they did not have any cash, they tried to take what was most valuable, such as clothing, a television, an induction stove, a mixer, an electric iron, among others.
“They walked around the house drinking soda as if it was normal, as if they were in their house and we were the strangers,” the mother said.
Within a few hours, MININT forces managed to catch the perpetrators of the robbery, in part thanks to the information provided by the victims and their neighbors. According to Canal Caribe, the stolen goods were handed over in a public ceremony.
