Huánuco: Two people arrested for starting a fire in the Carpish forest

The Ministry of the Environment (Minam) issued a statement following the arrest of two people accused of starting fires in the Carpish Montane Forest Regional Conservation Area in Huánuco.

The institution announced that it will demand significant civil reparations to finance the reforestation of the affected areas.

In addition, the Ministry of Environment highlighted the serious damage to flora and fauna caused by these criminal acts and called on the judicial and fiscal authorities to respond firmly, with severe sentences for those responsible. The detainees were brought before the courts.

Huánuco: Two people arrested for starting a fire in the Carpish forest

National Police officers arrested two people for allegedly starting a fire in an area of ​​the Carpish forest conservation area, in the Huánuco region.

According to preliminary information, these people would have caused a forest fire, which -according to Channel N- which devastated forests and crop areas, leaving wild animals dead.

The regional governor of Huánuco, Antonio Pulgar, said that the forest rangers were the ones who noticed that these people were setting fire. Three hectares were allegedly affected.

The suspects were taken to the PNP Environmental Directorate, while forest rangers, personnel from the Huánuco Regional Government and police officers went to the area to put out the fire.
